Polisher Pads, Backing Plates and Specification Checks
A pad diameter, a motor rating and an orbit figure describe different parts of a polishing system. None is a stand-alone instruction or a cleaning result. This guide explains the checks around the existing DAS-6 and MT320 selections without inventing a universal pad pairing, pressure setting or machine-polishing procedure.
Identify the exact machine and package
Start with the full model and the package actually being offered. A manufacturer page for a particular generation may describe equipment that has not been independently established for a similar retail Base Model. The buying guide keeps the DAS-6 generation and electrical questions visible rather than using a family resemblance to close them.
The MT320 Ultimate Kit is also distinct from a bare MT320 description. Before treating a component as supplied, check the actual package contents. This prevents a compatibility discussion from quietly becoming an invented inventory and helps identify which details need supplier confirmation before the machine can be compared as a complete useful setup.
Separate the plate from the pad
A backing plate and a polishing pad are different components. Confirm the machine-supported plate, attachment and pad requirements together; the same nominal diameter does not establish a supported combination. A larger-looking accessory is not automatically an upgrade, and the presence of several sizes in a photograph does not replace the exact model's instructions.
The current DAS-6 V2 manufacturer page names 125mm and 150mm plates and corresponding pad formats, while Meguiar's describes a five-inch plate for the MT320. Those are manufacturer descriptions of named machines, not CDK physical fit tests or a permission to exchange components across packages. Retain the relevant model and accessory guidance when deciding what to buy.
Read units without creating false equivalence
Orbit, speed and electrical power are separate specifications. The DAS-6 manufacturer gives its range in OPM, while the earlier retail record uses rpm; we do not convert the two labels into an asserted like-for-like operating figure. Meguiar's UK machine page also states OPM. Preserve each source's wording and resolve ambiguous specifications rather than normalising them by assumption.
A maximum speed or a larger motor number cannot be turned into a polishing setting for a particular pad, liquid and finish. It also does not establish comparative correction speed, comfort or result quality. Those outcomes need relevant evidence beyond the specification table; none has been measured here through a CDK head-to-head test.
Keep the liquid and material in the system
Compatibility is more than a mechanical attachment question. The selected liquid's supported method and the actual finish still determine whether the proposed process is appropriate. A pad can be physically attachable without making a hand-only formula a machine product, and a broad all-paint description does not identify an unknown or repaired finish.
Read the current machine and consumable instructions together. Where the complete combination is not established, obtain appropriate supplier guidance before operation. This article explains the purchasing checks; it does not provide a universal safe pressure, speed, working time or repeat count. Do not fill those missing instructions with a setting borrowed from an unrelated demonstration.
Compare useful compatibility rather than specification totals
Make a short list of confirmed machine, plate, pad and liquid requirements, noting the unresolved items. Then compare the complete suitable purchase alongside existing compatible stock, removal tools and delivery. Multiple supplied accessories add value only when their roles are needed and supported; a larger specification total is not a substitute for those checks.
If a seller cannot establish an item on which the proposed setup depends, leave it unresolved instead of assuming the nearest variant is equivalent. The kit-versus-machine article helps compare confirmed contents, and the buying guide retains the exact selected destinations. Together they support a clear decision without pretending that a longer technical description is a performance test.
