Choosing a Pressure Washer for Car Cleaning
Start with the place you will wash, then compare the complete machine and package. This guide explains the buying checks for two named mains-powered pressure washers. We have not tested their cleaning performance, handling or noise, and the researched Kärcher variant has no verified merchant link here.
Start with the place you will wash
Choose a machine for the place where you will actually use it. Map the water supply, suitable power access, space around the car and somewhere to put the washer afterwards. Buying a larger maximum-pressure figure does not resolve a short hose, an unsuitable connection or awkward storage.
This guide compares the buying information for two mains-powered examples, not every battery washer or professional machine. Read the complete instructions for the exact model before use. A UK product page and a voltage range do not independently prove which plug a selected seller will deliver.
Read the ratings without inventing a winner
Bosch lists the UniversalAquatak 135 with maximum pressure of 135 bar and maximum flow of 7.5 litres per minute. Kärcher lists maximum pressure of 130 bar and maximum flow of 420 litres per hour for K Silent part 1.600-958.0. These are manufacturer figures, not measured results from this site.
The linked K Silent manual distinguishes operating pressure and flow from their maximum values. Do not combine separately stated maxima into a promise about working performance. We have not established which machine cleans a car faster, uses less water or produces a better finish.
Check reach and handling
The named Bosch package lists a 7m high-pressure hose; the named Kärcher package lists a 6m hose. Plan where the machine will stand and how you will move around the car. Hose length is a useful purchase detail, but it is not a verified working radius.
Consider the space needed to carry and store the machine, gun and hose. We have not compared handling, balance or hose flexibility in use. Do not add cable and hose lengths together and present the sum as a guaranteed reach or an instruction to use a particular extension lead.
Match the nozzle to the surface
A nozzle supplied in the box is not automatically suitable for every surface. The K Silent manual specifically excludes the dirt blaster from car paint and tyres and gives a minimum 30cm distance for painted surfaces. That is guidance for this model, not permission to use the same method with another washer.
Use the exact washer, nozzle and vehicle instructions together. Before buying, check that the appropriate controllable spray equipment is included. This is a buying guide, not a replacement for the manual or a guarantee against damage to existing paint, trim or repairs.
Identify the whole package
The checked Bosch listing identifies model 06008A7C70 and names the gun, lance, three-in-one nozzle, 450ml detergent nozzle, 7m hose and water filter. Match the selected option again before ordering; a similar title with an added patio or car kit can describe a different purchase.
The Kärcher research row is part 1.600-958.0. Searches also surfaced Anniversary part 1.600-959.0; that is not treated as the same package. Its merchant option is withheld here until the exact destination is matched. Choose foam-lance hardware and the liquid separately using the existing guides.
Allow for care and storage
Include the end of the job in your buying decision. Check the selected manual for depressurising, disconnecting, draining and storage. The K Silent instructions require protection from freezing; do not assume a machine can be left full of water in winter.
Follow the named equipment and detergent guidance rather than transferring a mixing ratio or attachment from another system. The existing snow-foam guide explains why reservoir mixture and final panel concentration are different. A bigger detergent container is not a measured cleaning advantage.
Questions before buying a pressure washer
Does 135 bar automatically make the Bosch better for a car than 130 bar? No comparative cleaning result has been established. Check the complete setup, controls and instructions instead.
Is a UK plug confirmed? The checked Bosch retail model matches the GB manufacturer order number, but the delivered plug was not independently established. Confirm the selected electrical variant before purchase.
Can I buy the researched Kärcher option from its comparison row? No verified matching merchant destination is offered for part 1.600-958.0 here. Do not substitute an Anniversary listing solely because the name and headline figures are similar.
Is a snow-foam lance the pressure washer itself? No. The machine, trigger-gun fitting, lance and chemical are separate purchase checks.
How CDK weighs value
We look at suitability first, then the complete cost of doing the job. A higher price needs a useful benefit: compatible equipment, contents you need or supported performance evidence. Paying twice as much for the same useful outcome weakens value. Cheap but unsuitable products fail the first check.
The CDK viewpoints below interpret manufacturer and retailer research; no first-hand product testing or measured performance scoring has been carried out. Commission does not determine a verdict. We have not established current comparable costs, so we do not assign numerical product value ratings. Amazon customer stars, when available from an authorised source, are a separate opinion and would not be adjusted or relabelled as CDK scores.
Try the CDK value calculator
Use your own budget assumptions and suitability judgement. This produces your scenario score, not a CDK product rating, a performance test or Amazon customer stars. Nothing is saved or sent.
Enter valid figures and confirm a comparable job to calculate a scenario.
Method: suitability minus 0.5 × log₂(option cost ÷ alternative cost), with the deduction limited to 0–1.5 points and the result floored at zero. A doubling deducts 0.5 points: a hypothetical 5/5 becomes 4.5/5. A cheaper option gets no automatic quality bonus. This is an editorial convention, not a scientifically validated scale.

Bosch UniversalAquatak 135 06008A7C70
CDK viewpoint: A machine to assess as part of a complete car-washing setup, rather than on its headline pressure alone.
Keep in mind: The delivered plug and warranty entitlement remain unconfirmed. Check the exact package, power supply, instructions and car-safe nozzle method before ordering.
Value check: Include compatible fittings, hose reach and any missing accessories. A price premium needs a practical benefit in your setup; pressure figures alone do not establish that benefit.
