Choosing a Dashboard Detailer or Trim Protectant

A dashboard finish should suit the material and the driver's view, rather than simply look shinier in a photograph. Spritz and C6 describe different maintenance and protection roles. Start with whether an additional finishing step is needed, then check the preparation, material limits and removal method for that exact product.

Check the material, selected product role, required preparation and useful complete purchase before choosing this part of the interior range.

    Decide what needs to change

If the trim is dirty, cleaning is the first question. An interior detailer or protection product is not automatically the right response to embedded dirt, an unidentified mark or damage. Establish the supported job before adding a finishing bottle. A clean surface that already looks and feels appropriate may not need another product.

The relevant choice is also separate from tyre dressings and exterior trim restoration. Similar words such as satin, matt and protection do not make those formulations interchangeable. This guide considers interior dashboard and door-card decisions; it does not give permission to use the products on every component within reach of the driver's seat.

    Keep the selected roles distinct

The Spritz selection is SRZ500, the manufacturer's 500ml interior maintenance detailer. C6 is the current UK manufacturer selection for C6 Matt Dash AB 100ml. The latter page describes a prepared protection step, rather than treating the bottle as a general replacement for an interior cleaner or a quick wipe over existing dirt.

A marketplace candidate describes C6 0.1, while the selected manufacturer variant records C6AB 0.1. We have not established formulation or generation equivalence from that difference, so the C6 option below uses the unpaid manufacturer destination. Exact selection matters more than attaching a paid link to a close-looking name or similar-sized bottle.

Identify the trim and its restrictions

C6's manufacturer excludes suede, nubuck and fibrous finishes. A dashboard can sit next to those materials, coated displays and vehicle-specific controls, so the category name alone is insufficient. Keep the material identity and vehicle instructions beside the product instructions. Permission for a plastic door card is not automatic permission for an adjacent screen.

Spritz's broad description should be handled with the same care. A maintenance product marketed for several materials still needs the relevant vehicle guidance and a supported application. Do not convert an online finish claim into a promise of unchanged grip, glare or compatibility on every control surface. An uncertain application needs clarification before treatment.

    Include preparation and removal

C6's UK application guidance names precleaning, thorough drying, applicator application and removal of residue with a suitable cloth. Those requirements affect the time and equipment needed. Do not collapse them into a single spray-and-leave process or assume that another product's application route is appropriate because both bottles are used inside a car.

For either option, organise clean tools and a complete removal stage before starting. If a product leaves an unexpected appearance or feel, stop and refer to the applicable instructions rather than adding more layers. The cleaner-versus-dressing article explains why cleaning and finishing decisions should remain visible, even when they are purchased together.

    Pay for a supported benefit

Compare the cost of a suitable complete routine, including preparation, application equipment and the amount you can realistically use. Small bottle volume does not establish poor value, just as an extra protection claim does not establish a saving. The useful question is whether the chosen role fills a genuine gap in your maintenance process.

We have not measured comparative UV resistance, abrasion, dust attraction or duration. Biocidal marketing is not used here as a CDK health or hygiene promise. Our viewpoints therefore remain qualitative: consider supported materials and practical method first, then judge any price premium against an identifiable useful benefit rather than a five-star-looking product description.

    How CDK weighs value

We look at suitability first, then the complete cost of doing the job. A higher price needs a useful benefit: compatible equipment, contents you need or supported performance evidence. Paying twice as much for the same useful outcome weakens value. Cheap but unsuitable products fail the first check.

The CDK viewpoints below interpret manufacturer and retailer research; no first-hand product testing or measured performance scoring has been carried out. Commission does not determine a verdict. We have not established current comparable costs, so we do not assign numerical product value ratings. Amazon customer stars, when available from an authorised source, are a separate opinion and would not be adjusted or relabelled as CDK scores.

    Try the CDK value calculator

Use your own budget assumptions and suitability judgement. This produces your scenario score, not a CDK product rating, a performance test or Amazon customer stars. Nothing is saved or sent.

Enter valid figures and confirm a comparable job to calculate a scenario.

Method: suitability minus 0.5 × log₂(option cost ÷ alternative cost), with the deduction limited to 0–1.5 points and the result floored at zero. A doubling deducts 0.5 points: a hypothetical 5/5 becomes 4.5/5. A cheaper option gets no automatic quality bonus. This is an editorial convention, not a scientifically validated scale.

    • Auto Finesse Spritz SRZ500 500ml

CDK viewpoint: An interior maintenance-detailer option for compatible hard trim.

Keep in mind: A maintenance finish is not an answer to heavy dirt or an automatic screen treatment. Follow vehicle and supplied instructions.

Value check: Useful for an identified maintenance job; do not buy it solely to duplicate a suitable cleaner or to chase an untested protection claim.

    • Gtechniq C6 Matt Dash AB 100ml

CDK viewpoint: A trim-protection step when dashboard or door-card materials and preparation requirements fit.

Keep in mind: The manufacturer excludes suede, nubuck and fibrous finishes. Cleaning, drying, applicator application and residue removal remain separate steps.

Value check: Include preparation and suitable application/removal tools. No CDK abrasion, UV or durability result supports a product score.
